Active ingredient found in this medicine

Each tablet contains amlodipine maleate equivalent to 5 mg, 10 mg amlodipine.

How should I use this medicine

Your doctor will determine the dose of AMLOC suitable for you. The dose will be different for different patients and may depend on a number of things, including what the medicine is being used for, and whether or not other medicines are also being taken. AMLOC can be taken with or without food.

If you forget to take your AMLOC, take the missed dose as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, continue to take the next tablet at the usual time.  Do not take a double dose.

Side Effects

Like all medicines, AMLOC tablets may have side effects.

The following commonly reported side effects may occur:

  • Headache
  • Drowsiness
  • Irregular heartbeat
  • Swelling
  • Stomach pain
  • Fatigue

 

Common drug interaction

Consult with your doctor, pharmacist or healthcare practitioner for advice if you need to take any other medicines. If you are taking other medicines on a regular basis, including complementary or traditional medicines, the use of AMLOC with these medicines may cause undesirable interactions.

Unless prescribed by your doctor, do not take AMLOC if you take other medicines for hypertension or angina such as nitroglycerin tablets under the tongue, long acting nitrates or beta-blockers, as your blood pressure may decrease too much and you may feel very tired and weak.
